Three Reasons to Use an
Exercise Log Sheet
If you are trying to lose weight or to improve your general health and
fitness with exercise, you may want to consider using an exercise log
sheet. There are at least three very good reasons to consider logging your workouts.

First, using an exercise log sheet provides you with an opportunity to encourage personal
accountability. It’s easy to start a new exercise program but following through with it over the long run
can be quite difficult.
One reason people "fall off the wagon" is because there’s no real accountability
for follow-through. If you’re doing something for someone else, you are more likely to complete the task simply
because you are accountable to them for your efforts. Exercise is a personal matter and you’re only accountable to
yourself.
That would seem like enough, but it often isn’t. Humans are experts in
rationalization and "forced forgiveness". Using a log sheet is a great way to defeat those tendencies. When
you know that you’ll be tracking your effort in black and white, you can make that personal accountability more
powerful and meaningful.
Second, an exercise log sheet provides you with valuable information to maximize your well-being.
You’ll be able to see what you’ve really done and when you’ve really done it. As you advance with
your program, that information can help you to determine if you should be making changes to your routine and how
those changes are likely to actually effect your pursuit of health goals.
Knowledge is power and knowing what you’re really accomplishing is particularly
powerful information as you work to improve your approach to fitness.
Third, an exercise log sheet will
give you a better sense of organization. If you’re tracking your activity, you’ll be able to find
out when and what you’ve done--and what you should be doing.
Instead of relying on your memory with respect to assessing your accomplishments
relative to the requirements of your program, you’ll be able to know beyond a shadow of a doubt "where you
are".
Grabbing an organization edge can help you to stay on the right track and to reach
your fitness goals more effectively. Using a log sheet is a great way to keep things
organized.


If you’re exercising without logging your activity, you may be missing out on a
real opportunity. There are many good reasons to utilize a log sheet including enhanced motivation and
personal accountability, the accumulation of valuable data, and improved overall fitness training
